Evgeniya Krachmarova-Sotirov mezzo-soprano

  Evgeniya Krachmarova-Sotirov has charmed audiences as a soloist throughout Europe and US. Born in Varna, Bulgaria, she studied at the Varna College of the arts, then in Sofia at the State Music Academy where she received her masters degree in opera and vocal performance. She attended master classes with Renata Scotto in Savona, Italy, and has performed throughout Europe, the Middle East and the US.

Evgeniya's career began at the age of seven when she won a position in the Varna Opera Children’s Choir. After graduation magna cum laude from the College of the Arts, she was a soloist at the State music Theater Shumen and, simultaneously, as a concert soloist for the famous Choir at Sofia State Philharmonic Orchestra. Evgeniya has performed at the large Bulgarian Opera stages in Bourgas, Varna, Plovdiv, and Sofia where her memorable roles include Dorabella in Cosi fan Tutte (Mozart), Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figaro (Mozart) , Fenena in Nabucco (Verdi), Amneris in Aida (Verdi), and Santuzza in Cavalleria Rusticana (Mascagni). Evgeniya has also been a frequent participant in a number of festivals including the Summer Festival in Orange France, Varna Summer Bulgaria, and the well known Salzburg Mozart festival in Austria. She has toured the world extensively with performances to her credit in Spain, Germany, Austria, Liechtenstein, Kuwait, and Monte Carlo. Since moving to Northern New York and beginning a family, she recently performed with The Orchestra of Northern New York, Lake Placid Sinfonietta and many others.


Evgeniya will be touring Northern and Central New York in November, December and January (2011) with a recital program accompanied by the virtuoso pianist Ida Trebicka. click here for more info
